All night, painting丨Daisuke Takeya
Pimary is pleased to present work in progress state open studio titled All night, painting by a Toronto/Tokyo based artist Daisuke Takeya. The works are from ”Kara" (emptiness) series of painting which the artist has been working on since 2002. ”Kara" in Japanese means "empty" and represents the word for sky in Kanji character. Daisuke uses large canvas space to depict the sky, and the bottom of the canvas is a thin, minuscule skyline of different cities where he has visited, stayed and lived. During the current residency since the beginning of June at Pimary, Daisuke has been painting the night scene landscapes of Hong Kong and other cities in his recent travels.
